The Comeback Is Always Stronger Than The Setback

The children in 2B were ebullient in their return to their classroom today; following a lengthy holiday break and two weeks of distance learning previously. We took time to reconnect with each other by discussing our thoughts and feelings about the ongoing pandemic and the challenges and advantages it brings us and our families. For a year 2 class, their insight was impressive. It was also a real pleasure for everyone to see their friends and teachers in person again and share our stories about the Christmas break, or our grievances about the ongoing wet weather! Mrs Summerfield has been so impressed with the children's abilities to follow the school's SOPs each day, and our first day back at school was no different. Everyone remembered their social distancing and were consistently zealous about maintaining their personal hygiene. We focused on recapping our previous learning on phonics and numeracy and also tried our hand at weaving paper by carefully reading the steps of written instructions. The children were thoughtful when working with their partner and each pupil helped to support each other to complete some beautiful pieces of work. Today the children really proved that, no matter how many times we meet setbacks this year, our resilience and positive attitude will always win through.
