Science Is A Way Of Thinking

In Year 2B, as part of our Fire and Ice topic, we have been developing our scientific minds by exploring insulators and conductors. Faced with an urgent issue in the classroom, we began by brainstorming different materials that would help to keep Mrs Summerfield’s water bottle cool! After choosing between paper, foam, plastic and felt, we decided which material we would each test. After writing a hypothesis and recording the time taken for our ice cubes to melt, we wrote up our observation and conclusions. Shockingly, one of the ice cubes took more than 2 hours to transform to a puddle. Therefore, the felt proved to be the best insulator.
