Learning About the Digestive System

In Year 4, we have been learning about the digestive system in humans. First, we had researched the basic parts of the digestive system and learnt about organs such as oesophagus, stomach and intestines. Then, we learnt about the simple functions of these organs.

To make our learning more interesting, our teachers showed us how to make a model of a digestive system so we were able to see how the digestive system works and what happens in each of its main parts.

It was so much fun! Some of us, like Ibuki, were lucky enough to do the experiment at home: “I like the part of the squeezing representing nutrients being absorbed by the small intestine, it was disgusting!”.

After learning about the digestive system, we investigated the different types of teeth and their functions. We even had a chance to become dentists as we completed dental records of ourselves and our family members. Divyana said: “I did enjoy being a dentist and I hope we will do something like this again in the future”.
