Early Childhood Education

What are the advantages and disadvantage of Early ChildhoodEducation?

Most preschools start accepting children around the age of 2.5 to3 years old, but since every child is different, this isn’t a magic number. A preschool is an appealing option for many families. Especially nowadays most couples go to work.

Most preschools or sometimes called the nursery, pre-kindergarten or kindergarten, aim to prepare your child for the school years, by teaching them social and academic skills. The school may be publicly or privately operated and may be supported by public funds. Early years schooling generally runs between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm similar to school hours, although this may vary by countries and service.

Advantage

Early education allows children to develop a sense of independence and self-reliance. Independence is one of the most fundamental characteristics for a preschool-age child and the common goal of any education school program.

It helps develop your child social skills. The child will have lots of opportunities to interact with other children of different ages. This can help them learn, grow, and mature.

It helps lay the foundation for future academic achievement. A study has found those children who attended full-time in preschool or kindergarten (six hours a day) displayed better language and mathematical skills, which would be helpful later or for a smoother transition to formal schooling

Disadvantage

Separation anxiety can happen for preschool children and to parents as well. No child has the exact same personality, and some are able to easily adapt others takes time.

When we are focused on academic that to the point that the preschool becomes like the first grade, which is not appropriate for children since they are still learning basic skills.

It exposes children to more illnesses. When you have children gathering together in one location, they tend to get sick more often. A child who is at home, on their own, tend to be more sensitive to this effect than a child which come from larger families.
