Position: Teacher
Reporting to: Head of Department

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching and learning

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons across various year groups within the department and possibly teaching across more than one department as required by the school management.
  • Apply pedagogy to engage students in their learning.
  • Design assessments and provide timely feedback to facilitate student learning.
  • Monitor and maintain records of students’ academic progress and social development.
  • Provide regular constructive feedback to students on how they can improve and maximise their potential to the fullest.

Pastoral

  • Serve as a Form Teacher to support students in their affective needs and development.
  • Organise and co-ordinate co-curricular activities and/ or other student-related activities and events.
  • Work with stakeholders (e.g. parents) to meet the pastoral needs of students

Professional development

  • Participate in department meetings, school-wide training events and attend relevant training workshops as identified by the school.
  • Work with colleagues in the department to review curriculum, pedagogy and assessments

Personal qualities

  • Excellent class management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A good team player

Education qualifications

  • A good University degree in the subject content area is required
  • Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum is preferred

Role

Working under the direction of the teacher to assist in the general teaching of children, preparation of the classroom and resources, assisting with display and attending and contributing to, lesson planning.

Accountable to: Head of Junior School

General Duties

Support the pupils by:

  • Undertaking activities with individuals, groups or a class of children in order to facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development within a safe environment, usually under the supervision of a teacher.
  • Working to establish a supportive relationship with the children and parents concerned in order to facilitate effective communication and partnership between school and home where appropriate.
  • Carrying out pre-determined educational activities and work programmes ensuring that specific guidelines are followed whilst promoting independent learning to support the children’s understanding.
  • Promoting and reinforcing the child’s self-esteem and encourage the child to maximise their achievement and development.
  • Attend planning meetings and under the overall direction and guidance of the teacher, contribute to the short, medium and long term planning and preparation of lessons.
  • Help pupils make progress in a range of classroom settings including working with individuals, small groups and whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present.
  • Support teachers in selecting and preparing teaching resources that meet the pupils’ needs and interests. Liaise with the class teacher to devise complementary learning activities.

Support the teacher by:

  • Monitoring, assessing and recording pupils’ work as directed by the teacher.

Support the school by:

  • Taking responsibility for securing the maintenance of specific equipment in school and to have responsibility for specific aspects of health and safety.
  • To have skills which can be utilised in class such as gardening, drama, display, craft etc.
  • Being aware of the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Being aware of confidential issues linked to home/pupil/teacher/school work and to keep confidences as appropriate.
  • Assisting with out of school activities such as open days, school performances etc.
  • Carrying out the duties of classroom assistants and teaching assistants detailed below (general key tasks) as required or directed.
  • Contributing to behaviour management of pupils in accordance with the school policy and guidance.
  • Work within the framework of the school’s agreed policies and procedures.

Support the curriculum by:

  • Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post, subject to the proviso that any significant, substantial and permanent changes shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.

General Key Tasks:

  • Having specialist knowledge of equipment in the school and provide instruction on the proper use of that equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings and school inset days as required by the Head of Junior School.
  • Provide general care and welfare for children.

Generic Tasks:

The following list of tasks is indicative of the generic tasks which Teaching Assistants may be routinely expected to do. This is not intended to be an exclusive or exhaustive list.

  • Monitoring and recording absences
  • Photocopying
  • Classroom display
  • Collating pupil reports
  • Supervising examinations
  • Administering teaching cover
  • ICT trouble shooting and minor repairs
  • Ordering supplies and equipment
  • Stock taking
  • Cataloguing, preparing, issuing and maintaining equipment and materials
  • Managing pupil data
  • Inputting pupil data

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join us.You will organise and manage the daily operations of the kitchenand lead the kitchen staff to ensure that the highest quality of cuisine is served to our staff and students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure promptness, freshness and quality of dishes at all times.
  • Ensure the kitchen and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with company standards and health code regulations.
  • Plan menus and plate presentations based on requirements and standards set by the Management.
  • Train, develop, motivate and supervise kitchen staff to meet the food preparation standards and expectations.
  • Update and review SOPs related to kitchen management and food preparation.
  • Ensure proper bookkeeping.
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs as required by the Management.
  • Oversee operations in the kitchen.
  • Perform administrative duties such regular report as required by the Management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma/ Degree in the field of Culinary Arts, Food Management, Food Science, Food Management, Food Technology or other relevant courses preferred.
  • Good writing and communication skills in English.
  • Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • At least 7 years of working experience in the related field is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge in food industry and trends.
