Distance Learning Procedures Early Year and Junior School

Work will be set by teachers using a learning platform google classrooms [Meet] / Tapestry for EY / year 1 and there will be daily live session on google meet. All the passwords you will need have been given to the children.

Teachers will provide a weekly overview of the work that is expected to completed, this will be released each week on Friday so that parents and children will have the opportunity to review the tasks. Please ensure that your child has exercise books to record their work in. There will be a range of tasks set throughout the week for children to engage with. You will not be required to print out any worksheets. Work will need to be uploaded to google classroom on a daily basis and the teachers will provide feedback. Sometimes a task might ask the child to carry out an experiment; growing seeds, organise tins and packets according to weight, or drawing or making a model. Teachers will be able to monitor children’s engagement in activities and their understanding.

Learners may be provided with a suggested timetable for the week to ensure that they are given routines in order to learn at home. Children thrive off routine and structure so this may help when learning at home. We understand that this cannot be followed at all times and may not at all in some instances and it is a suggested timetable.

During the period of distance learning there will be no homework set. All tasks set should be manageable within designated learning times.

What is expected of our Junior School Students?

Each child will be issued with set pieces of work to complete each day. Their responses will be sent to the teacher via google classroom, who will mark their work. Please make sure that your children only send completed work.

Whilst all work should be achievable for children and we do not expect parents to become teachers whilst distance learning, it is important to understand that due to the age of children that they may require support to complete tasks.
