Step 3: Assessment
Prospective pupils will be invited to take part in the appropriate combination of assessments for their year group.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The childrens' parents will be required to complete a questionnaire to determine their readiness for school. The children will have a guided assessment with our Admission Advisors. The children will then join other pupils with play-based learning led by the class teacher. This will enable the class teacher to observe the child's overall social development and how they interact with other children.

Year 1 & Year 2

The pupils will "be a Repton pupil for half a day." This provides them the opportunity to experience in class activities with their peers and it will also allow the class teacher to observe their emotional and social skills as well as understanding their level of independence.

Year 3 to Year 6

Pupils will be assessed by means of the CAT4 Entrance Assessment. This is a diagnostic assessment and not knowledge based. There will be no studying required for this. CAT4 provides a unique profile of students' strengths and areas for development. It is an assessment of developed abilities in FOUR areas - verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative. Results across these four areas will help us understand how your child learns and what their academic potential might be. This will allow us to manage yours and your child's expectations successfully.

Year 7 to 12

New joiners will be assessed by means of the CAT4 Entrance Assessment. This is a diagnostic assessment and not knowledge based. There will be no studying required for this. CAT4 provides a unique profile of students' strengths and areas for development. It is an assessment of developed abilities in FOUR areas - verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative. EAL

All pupils will take part in an assessment with one of our EAL (English as an Additional Language) specialists.
Step 4: Enrolment
Once your child has enrolled, our Admissions team will maintain the relationship that has been built throughout the process, to ensure your child’s transition into life at Repton runs as smoothly as possible.
